Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World: A Review of the Edgar Wright Movie
The first moment we are introduced to the epically awkward Scott Pilgrim, it’s obvious that what he lacks in charm he makes up for in geekiness. Michael Cera plays Pilgrim, who after discovering the girl of his dreams - Ramona Flowers - has to defeat her seven evil exes. After the first fifteen minutes it seems that the role of Scott Pilgrim was practically written for Cera (Superbad, Juno) with his awkward movements and infatuating ability to make even the most serious of lines witty, without even breaking a sweat.
Characters to be aware of: Scott Pilgrim's gay best friend (and room mate) Wallace. Played by 'Culkin. Although hes not the obvious one to choose, he definitely adds humour to the movie. With witty lines and rather impressive acting, Wallace is part of the glue that ties the film together.
Watch this if you like: Hot Fuzz, Kick-Ass,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Shaun of the Dead, Spaced and Spiderman. It helps if you have a geeky side.

Edgar Wright, most famous for Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead has stated that Scott Pilgrim vs The World was written as a musical but without singing and dancing. It has fighting and awesome witty lines. Which sounds like one flashing mess, but as a matter of fact Edgar Wright's production (and the brainchild of Brian Lee O'Malley) has heart and depth - making it one awesomely beautiful comic-epic.
One point needs to be addressed; Scott Pilgrim may not appeal to the masses. It is the ultimate geek fantasy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], geeky guy meets girl of his dreams, makes out with said girl, dates said girl,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then rises to the challenge to defeat her seven evil exes. It’s not your typical high school movie, it’s not a musical and it’s definitely not about vampires. So if you’re looking for a good laugh with a hint of geek, then look no further, Scott Pilgrim is the film for you.

Although the storyline seems simple, the depth to which this film goes is very entertaining. With various computer-geek-related details and director Edgar Wright’s dedication to each scene, this movie is no doubt one of the most engaging features of the year.
