uld the media in your area be unaware, you will not be acquainted with the problem. In truth, this is a crisis that would affect us all! What if you found yourself in need of medical care? What are the possibilities of an extended delay at your hospital or doctor's office?
If you are eventually admitted to the hospital,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you lye in your bed unattended for hours. Literally, everybody is aware that this happens. The downside is that the important shortage of registered nurses within the United States.
Today's RN is about 45 years old. Research reveals a deepening crisis as fewer than 5% of RNs are younger than thirty years old. The crisis will solely get worse as older nurses settle into retirement without adequate replacements.
This creates an incredible chance for those interested by becoming a registered nurse. Hospitals and nursing homes are offering huge sums of money to entice new nurses to work for them.
You seize on the chance and begin investigating nursing schools. After succeeding on the qualifying examination, you face four semesters of preliminary classes. Finally, you move to register for nursing 101.
This is where you have got to be patient as so many applicants are ahead of you that you will have to wait as much as thirty-six months to start. They simply don't have enough nursing professors to satisfy the demand. Keep in mind, this does not happen to everyone - especially within the community colleges.
The frustration eases as you finally begin the initial nursing course. At 1st, things are rolling along quite nicely. Perhaps another year passes before a glitch in your plans unfolds. The dreaded medical-surgical class comes up.
While things have been going along quite nicely, you suddenly hit a rough spot and get a "C" for a nursing class. You find yourself facing the Dean, who warns you that another grade duplicating that will lead to being expelled.
Every semester, many face that hurdle. After years of hard work, nursing students are suddenly pushed out the door for ever.
For those whose dreams are crushed, help appears impossible. Local news agencies share similar accounts all the time. One would expect, since the nursing crisis is solely deepening,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that the nursing colleges would need to help avoid this.
However, they very much don't have to. They are so short staffed that they own an unimaginable waiting list of paying customers to take your place. After all, there is always another student waiting within the wings. Before you recognize what hit you, the door is closed, then locked with a deadbolt. Many merely give up their dream and quit. Quite understandable given the financial resources, time and effort expended.
Still,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the newspapers continue to report the casualties. Finally, I made a decision to try to do some research. So what are your choices if this happened to you?
Basically, I found a few. The 1st is to begin over (by retaking your nursing courses) at another nursing school. Obviously, this was not the most effective solution as there's another entrance exam, waiting list and the opportunity to expose yourself to this all over again.
The second option is distance learning. The upside of this was the flexibility to keep up a versatile schedule and test out of courses. However, additional investigation led to concern because the pass rates are decidedly poor and most who attempt this never grauate.
Eventually,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I found this link, nursing schools TN, giving a combination of flexibility and structure. The pass rates are spectacular, as weekly courses are added to the self-study element. While centers like this exist in many areas of the United States, I significantly liked this offering by representatives of these nursing schools in Nashville. Check out this nursing school TN for details.
